The 1756-OF8I by Allen-Bradley is a high-performance analog output module that features 8 current outputs. Being part of the CntrolLogix series, the module is configurable with any slot in the 1756 chassis. It possesses selectable output ratings of -10 to 10 Volts, 0 to 10 Volts, 0 to 5 Volts, and 0 to 20 milliamps, plus an 18-bit resolution. Its backplane current is 200 milliamps at 5.1 Volts DC and 275 milliamps at 24 Volts DC. The module’s backplane power output is 6.3 Watts in the voltage mode and 6.3 to 10.2 Watts in the current mode. This analog output module also has a power and thermal dissipation level that is dependent on the load at the current mode. However, this value remains constant at 18.4 BTU per hour. The 1756-OF8I provides open-circuit detection for all current outputs and short-circuit protection for voltage outputs.

It provides an over-voltage protection level of ±30 Volt DC in both the current and voltage modes. The module also has a drive capability of 0 to 1000 I (current) and a >1000 I (current) and an overall current output impedance of 46 I. Its calibration accuracy is about 0.05% while its module settling time is 1 milliseconds. This means that the 1756-OF8I can only accommodate a 0.1% module error. The module adopts the IEEE 32-bit format (floating point) and it uses the R-Ladder DAC conversion technique. Its isolation voltage is 25 Volts with basic as well as reinforced insulation designs tested at 1500 Volts AC and 2300 Volts AC for 60 seconds between the outputs and the backplane. This Allen-Bradley analog output is IEC 60068-2-27-tested to tolerate a 30G operational shock and it has an operational temperature range of between 0 and 60 degrees Celsius at 5 to 95% non-condensing humidity. Furthermore, the 1756-OF8I delivers high output and optimal reliability.
