The 1756-PLS is an Allen Bradley ControlLogix Programmable Limit Switch Module. The module is used for monitoring machine position through an Allen Bradley Resolver. It also activates the actuator at various limits and can switch the Low Limit and High Limit setpoint positions. Used in industrial applications, the 1756-PLS module energizes and de-energizes outputs for the respective industrial applications it is used. The 1756-PLS comes with a total of 16 output currents running at 10-31.2 Volts DC. It has a maximum of 1 Amp per output featuring 4 groups of 4 outputs each and separate power. The module also comes with 16 single-ended inputs 10.31.2Volts DC and 4 groups of 4 inputs with separate commons. Basically, the programmable Limit Switch Module comes installed in ControlLogix Chassis. It has up to three operation modes or three contiguous slots in chassis.

The 1756-PLS carries backplane current of 1000 Milliamps at 5 Volts and also 125 Milliamps at 24 Volts. The maximum power dissipation for the 1756-PLS is 25.7 Watts at 30 degrees Celsius and 21.3 Watts at 60 Degrees Celsius. The module also features three RTBs (Removable Terminal Blocks) which includes 1756-TBSH or 1756-TBNH. These removable terminal blocks connect to the field-side cables. The shipping dimension for the 1756-PLS is 5.51X4.41X5.71 inches. Its operating temperature is rated at 0 to 60 degrees Celsius with a storage temperature at -45 to 60 Degrees Celsius. The non-condensing humidity for this module is 0 to 95% with a maximum off-state voltage of 1756-PLS being 5 Volts DC. Note that removing the 1756-PLS module from the chassis while the power is applied can cause message commands to commit configuration, input data and also output data. It comes with thermal dissipation of 6.35 BTU per hour at a nominal DC voltage and 9.56 BTU per hour at maximum DC voltage.
