The 1771-IRK is a conformally-coated RTD input module from Allen-Bradley/ Rockwell Automation. The module is used in a PLC-5 system and it has 6 Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) inputs. The 1771-IRK module has a channel update duration of 50 milliseconds per 8 channels and it exerts an 800 milliamperes current load on the backplane. The conformal coating on the module makes it able to withstand a polluted environment. This makes the 1771-IRK module ideal for use in industrial conditions that are dusty, have high humidity levels, etc. The conformal coating acts like an insulation coating the 1771-IRK RTD module’s circuitry. The 1771-IRK module is powered with a current from the backplane chassis and this eliminates the need for an external power supply.
The 1771-IRK is a rack mountable module and it occupies a slot in the Allen-Bradley 1771 Input/Output chassis. The leftmost slot in the chassis is reserved for the processor. The module has a resolution of 16 bits at a temperature of 1 degree Celsius. The module has been tested and found to be usable in low-voltage conditions. The backplane keying bands for keying the 1771-IRK module and other modules to the backplane are supplied together with the Input/Output chassis.
The 1771-IRK conformally-coated RTD input module uses the 1771-WF wiring arm. This minimizes wiring needs in case the users want to replace the 1771-IRK module or any other device connected to it. Additionally, the 1771-IRK supports data formats in natural binary, Ohm readings, or in BCD actual temperature. The module is marine certified with a DNV maritime type certification.
