The Allen-Bradley 1785-LT is the catalog number for the classic PLC-5 programmable controller from the Allen-Bradley 1785 series of controllers. The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation processor can be used in a system intended for centralized control or a system made for distributed control. The complete and fully functional system should integrate the centralized controller with other components such as a programming terminal with a dedicated software solution, a chassis with the Allen-Bradley 1771-ASB remote I/O adapter and other similar devices. The 1785-LT processor module has one DH+ and one remote I/O channel and a maximum total I/O of 512, along with maximum total analog I/O of 512. The module has a discrete logic scan time of 2 milliseconds and a typical scan time of 8 milliseconds. The module’s I/O scan time per rack is 10 milliseconds at 57.6 kilobits per second, 7 milliseconds at 115.2 kilobits per second, and 3 milliseconds at 230.4 megabits per second.

The 1785-LT PLC-5 controller features a SRAM memory of 6 Kilowords which can be further expanded to 10 or even to 14 Kilowords. This classic PLC-5 processor can be used in a special scanner mode in order to scan and control I/O links. The main purpose of the processor when in scanner mode is to read the memory file of the processor in order to read a specific input or to control the outputs. The operating temperature of the PLC-5 controller should be within the range of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius (32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit), while the storage temperature should not be below -40 degrees Celsius (-40 degrees Fahrenheit) or above 85 degrees Celsius (185 degrees Fahrenheit). Besides the defined temperatures for operation and storage, the working ambient conditions for the programmable controllers from this product family also include a relative humidity of 5 to 95% without condensation. The 1785-LT controller has a solid resistance to a shock of up to 30 g for 11 milliseconds with three pulses and a resistance to vibration. When it is not operating, the controller can withstand a shock of up to 50 grams.
