The 1746-NI4 is a four-channel analog input module from Allen Bradley’s SLC-500 series; the input voltage or current is selectable per channel. This module draws a backplane current of 35 mA at 5 Volts and 85 mA at 24 Volts, providing DIP switches to manipulate channel 0 to channel 3 input modes. To prepare the channel for current input, the DIP switch is put to the ON-state while the OFF-state prepares the channel to accept voltage input.
 
The 1746-NI4 has a 14-bit resolution with a 2.5 millisecond conversion rate. It operates with a current range of -20 to 20 mA and a voltage range of -10 to 10 Volts DC. It has a 500 Volt AC/710 Volt DC backplane isolation and a 60-millisecond step response time. Its conversion method is “sigma-delta conversion”, and it has a nominal throughput delay of 512 micro seconds. Its nominal input range is plus/minus 20mA, its maximum input range is plus/minus 30 mA, and it has an input current encoding of plus/minus 16384 for plus/minus 20mA. With 5 Volts DC or 7.5 Volts AC RMS maximum input voltage (absolute), the 1746-NI4 has a nominal input resistance of 250 Ω.
 
Overall, the 1746-NI4 has full scale accuracy of +/- 0.365% at 25 degrees Celsius, with the maximum being +/- 0.642% (of full scale) at 0 to 60 degrees Celsius. It has a full-scale accuracy drift of 79 ppm/degree Celsius, a 0.323% maximum gain error at 25 degrees Celsius, and 0.556% at maximum, at a temperature between 0 and 60 degrees Celsius. The
The 1746-NI4 has 1 MΩ resistance on the input voltage, a resolution of 305.176 µV and a -32768 to 32767 input voltage encoding for 10 Volts DC. The 1746-NI4 has an accuracy of +/- 0.284% of full scale at 25 degrees Celsius and +/- 0.504% at 0 to 60 degrees Celsius.
