The Allen-Bradley 1746-OB8 is a Digital Output Module of the SLC 500 series. This module is a dc current module with 8 outputs and 8 points per common. The 1746-OB8 provides general-purpose dc outputs for your system. The operating voltage range for the 1746-OB8 is 10-50V dc. The backplane current load for the output module is 135 mA at 5V and 0 mA at 24V. The maximum voltage drop, ON-state output is 1.2V at 1.0A. The maximum leakage current, OFF-state output is 1 mA. The 1746-OB8 has a minimum load current of 1 mA. Signal ON delay for the module is 0.1 ms and signal OFF delay is 1.0 ms. The surge current per point for 10 ms is 3.0 A.
This module is an industrially hardened product that is designed to withstand industrial environments. The minimum thermal dissipation for the 1746-OB8 is 0.675 Watts. The maximum thermal dissipation for the module is 6.90 Watts. There are 0.775 Watts per point. An additional advantage of the 1746-OB8 is that it has a compact design with dimensions of 5” x 2” x 6” (13 cm x 5 cm x 15 cm) and a weight of only 9 oz (0.25 kg).
