The HE693ADC420 is an Isolated Analog Current Input Module from Horner Electric. This module is a 14-bit resolution unit with four analog input channels. It also has 1500 VAC isolation, which is much more than the 500 VAC of the smaller HE693ADC415 model. Both of these modules work the same way. They convert the current input signal to digital values. These are then placed into the %AI table of the PLC CPU. The isolation levels are channel-to-channel and channel-to-ground.

Each channel on the module can be configured to one of two input ranges. The user may set it to either 4- 20mA or +/-20mA. Each one of the four channels also has a programmable set-point. Its level is set through the PLC program. This is done by four %AQ output registers. Should the input value reach or exceed these set-points, a corresponding digital input %I will be energized. The first four digital input %I’s represent the four separate input channel set-point alarms of the module.

When intalling the Isolated Analog Current Input Module, it is important that wiring is routed into its own conduit. For the best noise immunity, the person installing the unit should use shielded, twister pair extension wiring. When using this type of wiring, it is critical that a good earth ground connection is made. This is only needed at one end. If the shields are grounded to the earth at the module end, terminals 1, 2, 11, and 12 will need to be used as the shield connection points.
