The 1788-FBJB6 junction box has been designed and manufactured by Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation as a Foundation Fieldbus junction box in the Allen-Bradley 1788 linking devices series. The 1788-FBJB6 junction box makes it easy for devices to connect to a Foundation Fieldbus network. It is designed to be fault-tolerant. This junction box can connect as many as 6 devices at a time to the Foundation Fieldbus network and it comes with 1 trunk output connector as well as 1 trunk input connector. During operation, the 1788-FBJB6 junction box constantly monitors the bus current at every field device port and if it detects an overcurrent fault, it will limit the current at the port that is experiencing the fault to a lower and safer level. This means that even though 1 of the connected drop lines has shorted, all of the other connected devices can still communicate.
The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 1788-FBJB6 Foundation Fieldbus junction box adds another level of safety and efficiency to industrial controller systems and it helps to prevent data and communication losses. The voltage ratings for the 1788-FBJB6 junction box are 12 to 32 Volts DC of supply voltage with 750 milliamps of current, 12 to 32 Volts DC of trunk output voltage with 470 milliamps of resistive current, and 12 to 32 Volts DC of drop output voltage with 40 milliamps of resistive current. This junction box does not come with isolation between its communication channels. With no field devices connected to it, the 1788-FBJB6 Foundation Fieldbus junction box consumes about 0.04 Amps at 24 Volts DC during operation.
The Allen-Bradley 1788-FBJB6 Foundation Fieldbus junction box allows 6 devices to connect to the Foundation Fieldbus network at a time. It is fault-tolerant and it can address a fault in 1 device without shutting all the other devices down.
