The Allen-Bradley MicroLogix 1200 is a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) product family that features an upgraded functionality and options. It is designed with features that enables the controller capable of implementing automation function out of the box. The MicroLogix 1200 Product family is also capable of expanding its embedded feature to fit an application. This controller is readily compatible for use in different industries such as pharmaceutical, material handling, printing, food and beverage, packaging and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) machine applications.

The MicroLogix 1200 PLC family has a Twenty-Four (24) - Forty (40) I/O density variety. The embedded features include an internal Power Supply unit, Embedded I/O channels, Processor, Trim Potentiometers, and communication ports. This controller family is capable of being mounted to a DIN Rail or directly to a mounting plate and compatible with 1762 I/O expansion modules, allowing up to Six (6) expansion modules amounting to 136 I/O points.

The integrated I/O features integrated Four latching Pulse-Catch-Inputs and latching inputs. This type of inputs allows processing of signals with very fast and low-level signal footprint. Additionally, every controller within the product family has 20kHz High-Speed-Counter which supports 32-Bit signed integers, Eight (8) modes of operation, allow direct control of outputs which are independent of the processor’s program scan. This High-speed inputs allows the controller for installation in counter and, encoder and totalizer applications.

All MicroLogix 1200 controller have is supplied with an 8-Pin mini DIN combo ports, supporting RS232 and RS485 topology. It supports communication protocol such as DH-485, MDBUS RTU master or MDBUS RTU slave via 1761-NET-AIC Advanced Interface Converter. By default, this port is configured for DF1 protocol which is capable of peer-to-peer communication. This communication port may be used to exchange data between computer-based control systems and programming workstation among other devices and components. For communication with ASCII devices, this communication terminal may also be configured for ASCII protocol.

The 1762 MicroLogix 1200 PLC family features a variety of controller catalog numbers such as 1762-L24AWA, 1762-L24AWAR, 1762-L24BWA, 1762-L24BWAR, 1762-L24BXB, R 1762-L24BXBR, 1762-L40AWA, 1762-L40AWAR, 1762-L40BWA, 1762-L40BWAR, 1762-L40BXB and 1762-L40BXBR. MicroLogix controllers specifically units with catalog number ending in R such as 1762-LxxxxxR features an expanded communication port supporting Programmer / HMI port. This programmer port only receives messages from an external device and cannot send messages originating from this port.

User program and configuration is done using the RSLogix 500 Programming software starting from revision 4 or later. Software Revision 4.5 when used with a Series B MicroLogix enables utilization of new features including ASCII protocol support.

 All MicroLogix 1200 controller support ControlFlash utility, allowing firmware upgrade. By upgrading firmware, updated hardware features are enabled including software patches and bug fixes.
 
The MicroLogix 1200 product family is compatible with a variety of communication cables such as 1761-CBL-PM02, 1761-CBL-HM02, 1761-CBL-AM00,1761-CBL-AP00 1761-CBL-PH02,1761-CBL-AH02,2707-NC8,2702-NC9,2707-NC10 and 2707-NC11. These communication cables are pre-fabricated cables made by Allen-Bradley to support communication and data exchange with control systems, programming workstations and other devices.
