Expansion modules connect to the controller or another module via a provided ribbon cable. Compatible field devices for this module include switches, sensors, auxiliary contacts, and other electrical devices that operate in binary or ON/OFF method. It is important to take note of the moduleÕs measurement as the module requires 50.88 mm or 2 inches clearance on all sides. This is to ensure adequate air flow and ventilation. This module supports horizontal mounting only. Similar to MicroLogix controller products, this module support DIN Rail mounting. Compatible DIN rail for this module measures 35 x 7.5 mm (EN 50 022 - 35 x 7.5) or 35 x 15 mm (EN 50 022 - 35 x 15). When mounting to a DIN Rail, close the DIN Rail latch. Press the DIN Rail slot against the DIN Rail to momentarily open and lock the module into place. When installing the module in environment with vibration and shock that exceeds the rated 10 to 500 Hz, 5G, 0.030 in. max. peak-to-peak and 30G panel mounted respectively, Allen-Bradley DIN Rail end anchors with part number 1492-EA35 or 1492-EAH35 may be used. Alternatively, this module also supports Panel Mounting Method which is especially applicable for use in environment with an elevated vibration and shock rating. When installing this module, use 2 M4 0r #8 panhead or M3.5 or #6 panhead screws per module may be used. Use washers to ensure a good ground current. When wiring input signals to the finger-safe terminal block, route the wires to the terminal pressure plate. Use wires that measure #14 to #22 AWG for solid wires and #16 to #22 AWG for Stranded wires. Recommended insulation rating of signals wires are Cu-90¡C (194¡F) while recommended Torque is 0.904 Nm (8 in-lbs). Ensure that debris such as metal chips and stripped wires do not fall off to the moduleÕs internal circuitry. Maintain the protective cover or install an additional debris protector to prevent foreign materials especially conductive material from entering and establishing connection to the moduleÕs internal electronic circuitry. Any protective strip must be removed when the module is ready to be provided with power and installation activities especially on top of the module are finished. This is to allow natural air flow for module cooling otherwise, overheating may occur and damage the module.
