The 1762-IF4 is an expansion module from the 1762 Product family. This module is a MicroLogix analog Input module that is used with MicroLogix 1100, 1200 and 1400. This expansion module enables integration and processing of analog signals, carrying information regarding a process variable, to be able to provide a computerized display via Human Machine Interface (HMI), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Electronic Indicators and other devices. It also enables the system to implement control of an analog process, increasing accuracy and precisions. Field instruments that typically generate analog signals are Transmitters, Transducers, Indicators and other devices. This analog input module has a full-scale range of -10.5-10.5VDC and 0-21mA with resolution of 15 bits in bipolar mode. It has a built-in analog to digital circuitry using Sigma-Delta conversion mode. The 1762-IF4Õs overall accuracy is ±0.32% full scale @ -20É65 ¡C (-4 ¡FÉ149 ¡F) ±0.24% full scale @ 25 ¡C (77 ¡F). This analog input module is capable of receiving input signals coming from sensor types that are 2-Wire and 3-Wire Transmitters or loop powered transmitters and 4-Wire transmitters. The moduleÕs repeatability is ±0.12% and input group isolation of 30V AC/30V DC rated working voltage(4) (IEC Class 2 reinforced insulation) type test: 500V AC or 707V DC for 1 min. The 1762-IF4 has an internal Current input protection of ±32 mA and Voltage input protection of ±30V. Additional channel diagnostics is provided such as Over or under range or open circuit condition by bit reporting for analog inputs. This module is also provided with a module power LED that turns ON when power is applied. If used with MicroLogix 1100, up to Four (4) 1762-IF4 expansion modules may be used. With MicroLogix 1200, Six (6) modules are supported while up to Seven (7) 1762-IF4 may be installed with MicroLogix 1400. This dimension of 1762-IF4 is of 90 x 40.4 x 87 mm (3.54 x 1.59 x 3.43 in.) Height including mounting tabs is 110 mm (4.33 in) and weighs 240g (0.53 lbs.) with weight of 235 g (8.28 oz). It has a Bus Current draw 40 mA @ 5V DC 50 mA @ 24V DC. Similar to other 1762 Modules, the 1762-IF4 requires 50.88 mm or 2 inches clearance on every side. The 1762-IF4 module has a pair of internal switches for configuration of the input signal. Each switch has an embedded selector that are individually set to select whether Voltage or Current signal will be used. By default, this module is set to Current input signal type. The 1762-IF4 hardware is defined using the RSLogix 500 Programming software. This module occupies 7 Words where the 1st Four (4) registers are used to store digitally converted analog signal. Word 4 and 5 are used for module diagnostics while Word 6 is a reserved register. User do not need to manually configure these registers as they are automatically generated once configuration is successful. Configurable input data type are for Raw / Proportional format and Scaled for PID format. Included in the created registers are General status bits for input and output, Over-range Flag, and Under-range flags.
