The 1762-IQ8 is a MicroLogix I/O expansion module from Allen-Bradley. This module features Eight (8) 24VDC input channels with One (1) input group with internally connected commons supporting sinking or sourcing configuration. The channel groups are basically channels 0, 1, ,2 ,3 ,4 ,5 ,6 ,7. This module supports the rackless design of MicroLogix controller product family particularly MicroLogix 1100, 1200 and 1400 Controller. It can be installed along any other MicroLogix 1762 Expansion I/O modules where up to Four (4) Expansion I/O is supported by MicroLogix 1100, Six (6) by MicroLogix 1200 and Seven (7) modules may be installed with a MicroLogix 1400. The 1762-IQ8 is a cost-effective module ideal for expanding the primary MicroLogix hardware to accommodate low density number of input devices. This module operates at a voltage range of 10-26.4V DC or 10-30V DC with individual channel ON signal delay is 8.0 ms while OFF signal delay is 8.0 ms while the minimum ON state voltage is 10VDC and maximum OFF state voltage is 5VDC. The module is energized through the backplane with a current draw of 50 mA @ 5V DC. The 1762-IQ8 is used to integrate electrical electronic devices that operate with binary position only specifically, ON / OFF actuations only. Some of these devices are switches such as limit switches, magnetic reed switches; Sensors such as photoelectric, capacitive sensors, auxiliary contacts of relay, magnetic contactors and instruments, and other components that has Two-position operation. The 1762-IQ8 is configured using RSLogix 500 programming software. It must be defined in the softwareÕs I/O configuration. Upon configuration, the software creates an 8-bit data file, dedicated for the module which can be viewed in binary, decimal, octal, hexadecimal format. The corresponding data file begins with Slot 1 as Slot 0 is reserved by the MicroLogix system for the built-in input points. With the use of the programming software, ladder logic functions may be associated to any of the moduleÕs channel and physical channel integration to the software elements is done via drag and drop functionality or manual address entry. Additionally, there are configurable parameters available for each channel of the module such as input filtering. RSLogix 500 is compatible with Microsoft Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10. When terminating the input signals to the module, recommended wire sizes are #14 to #22 AWG for Solid Wire or #16 to #22 AWG for Stranded wire. Wire insulation ratings for both wire types are Cu-90¡C (194¡F) with Torque applied 0.904 Nm (8 in-lbs). When stripping wires, avoid wire fragments, especially conductive fragments, from falling and entering inside the module. These may cause damage when the module is powered up. The moduleÕs dimensions are 90 mm (height) x 87 mm (depth) x 40 mm (width) height including mounting tabs is 110 mm 3.543 in. (height) x 3.425 in. (depth) x 1.575 in.
