The 1762-L24AWAR is a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) that belongs to the MicroLogix 1200 product family. This compact electronic component is manufactured by Allen-Bradley, ideal for implementing automation of micro and small processes. The 1762-L24AWAR features an integrated Fourteen (14) 120VAC discrete inputs and Ten (10) Relay output channels. The inputs channels have a minimum ON state voltage of 79VAC while the maximum OFF state voltage is 132VAC. The relay output channels may be operated for Voltage ranges of 5-125VDC or 120-240VAC. Both these embedded I/Os are used for integrating and controlling discrete devices that operate in binary or Two-position actuations, commonly known as ON/OFF modes. Compatible field devices for input channels are switches, sensors, auxiliary contacts while output devices may be used to energize electrical loads such as magnetic contactors, relays coils, pilot lamps, buzzers, hors, siren, solenoid, soft starters and other compatible devices. It also has Two (2) communication ports, one being an RS232/RS485 combo port which can be used for downloading and uploading PLC programs, established communication between computer-based control systems such as Human Machine Interface (HMI), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Distributed Control Systems (DCS), enterprise tools such as databases, ERMs, gateways, protocol converters and other compatible partner devices. The secondary communication port is a dedicated programmer port that supports DF1 Full Duplex protocol only. This is mainly used for downloading and uploading PLC programs as this port cannot initiate messages. This port has a fixed communication parameter set. Both the physical communication terminal are 8-pin mini DIN terminals, compatible with communication cables such as 1761-CBL-PM02 series C or later,1761-CBL-HM02 series C or later. 1761-CBL-AM00 series C or later, 761-CBL-AP00 series C or later 1761-CBL-PH02 series A or later, 1761-CBL-AH02 series A or later, 2707-NC8 series A or later, 2707-NC9 series B or later, 2707-NC10 series B or later and 2707-NC11 series B or later. RS232 communication from the primary communication port or Channel 0 supports DH485, DF1 Full-Duplex, DF1 Half Duplex, DF1 Radio Modem, MODBUS Master / Slave and ASCII protocols. The RS485 supports daisy chain topology primary MODBUS RTU communication. This controller is powered up with a voltage range of 79-265 VAC along an operating frequency of 47-63 Hz. It can withstand an inrush current of 25A for 8 ms when operated at 120VAC input and 40A for 4 ms for 240VAC. The controllerÕs power supply usage is 68VA. The controllerÕs power supply output is 400 mA at 5VDC and 350 mA at 350 mA. Similar to other MicroLogix controllers, the 1762-L24AWAR is configured and programmed with RSLogix 500 Programming software. This programming software complies with the IEC-61131-3 standard, supporting 1 of 5 programming language, specifically, RSLogix 500 uses the user friendly and technician friendly Ladder programming language. RSLogix 500 supports offline and online configuration, included with troubleshooting and commissioning tools. The programming software supports drag and drop functionality or manual input of address when programming the unit. It is also integrated with RSLinx communication software, that manages communication drivers used for data exchanged to and from the controller.
