The MicroLogix I/O expansion module with part number 1762-OB16 is a Solid-State module that operates at a Voltage range of 24VDC with an operating voltage range of 20.4 - 26.4 VDC. This module is commonly used to actuate electrical and electronic loads to initiate movement or change in state. Some of the devices connected to this module are Pilot Lamps, sounding devices like buzzer, Horn and annunciators; Final Control Elements (FCE) for ON/OFF control circuits such as Solenoid valves, cylinders; Magnetic contactors to actuate motors and pumps; Relays and other binary operating devices. This module may also be used with AC loads indirectly, by providing an interposing circuit, isolating the 24VDC signal of the module to the AC voltage. When installing this module, prevent electrostatic discharge from damaging the module. Some precautionary steps that can be made are touching a grounded object, wearing of a wrist-strap connected to a grounded plate or device, avoiding contact to the pins of the bus connectors, avoid placing the module to an ungrounded workstation or a conductive surface, and keeping the module inside the box when not in use. Always put the module inside the anti-static packaging. This module supports DIN rail or panel mounting installation. Panel mounting is typically used if the enclosure is experiencing a higher rating of vibration and shock but not exceeding the moduleÕs rated vibration and shock of 10É500 Hz, 5 g, 0.030 in. max. peak-to-peak, 2 hours per axis and 30 g panel mounted, 3 pulses per axis. If installed with a DIN rail, DIN rail end anchors may also be installed to increase shock and vibration suppression. Compatible Allen-Bradley manufactured anchors are 1492-EA35 or 1492-EAH35. The moduleÕs operating temperature is 0-55 ¡C or 32 -131 ¡F. Install appropriate cooling or heating devices, depending on the environmental condition of the 1762-OB8. The 1762-OB16 may only be installed when power is not supplied to the controller. It is useless to try to install the module when power is active as the processor will not recognize the module as the controller will go to a faulted state. Instead, power down the supply to the controller and the modules (if any) and proceed with the installation of the output module. If the module being replaced is the same, the module will be recognized upon power up however, if the module is not the exact replacement, hardware reconfiguration and program download is required. External hardwire modifications may also be needed depending on the requirement. The 1762-OB16Õs operating parameters include ON signal delay of 0.1 ms, OFF signal delay of 1.0 ms, Continuous Current per point of 0.5A @ 55 ¡C (131 ¡F) or 1.0A @ 30 ¡C (86 ¡F). The continuous current per module is 4.0A @ 55 ¡C (131 ¡F) or 8.0A @ 30 ¡C (86 ¡F). This module is compatible as an expansion module of MicroLogix 1100, 1200 and 1400. It is also compatible of being installed in combination with other MicroLogix expansion module. Up to Four (4) Expansion I/O is supported by MicroLogix 1100, Six (6) by MicroLogix 1200 and Seven (7) modules may be installed with a MicroLogix 1400.
