The 1762-OB8 is a MicroLogix output module. This module fits to all MicroLogix 1200 controllers specifically MicroLogix Controllers 1762-L24AWA, L24AWAR, L24BWA, L24BWAR, L24BXB, L24BXBR, L40AWA, L40AWAR, L40BWA, L40BWAR, L40BXB, and L40BXBR. Four (4) instances of this module may be installed with MicroLogix 1100, Six (6) with MicroLogix 1200, and Seven (7) with MicroLogix 1400. This solid-state discrete output module features has Eight (8) 24VDC outputs which features faster actuation speed, without mechanical switching contacts, eliminates contact bounce and generates lesser noise or interference. The operating voltage range of each channels is 20.4 - 26.4 VDC. Output modules are commonly used to implement control commands initiated according to the controllerÕs result of user program processing. Common devices that may be connected to the channels of this output module are indicating Lamps, buzzer, Horn and annunciators, Solenoid valves, cylinders, Magnetic contactors to actuate motors and pumps; Relays and other similar ON/OFF devices. Install this module beside the MicroLogix controller or any module adjacent to the 1762-OB8.This ribbon cable serves as the MicroLogix bus where power is distributed among other modules. The moduleÕs current draw is 115 mA @ 5V DC (0.575W) with heat dissipation of 1.61 Total Watts. Maintain 2-inches clearance on all sides of the module and install an appropriate cooling or heating device to maintain operating temperature of 0-55 ¡C or 32-131 ¡F. When wiring this module, recommended wire size ranges from #14 É22 AWG for Solid Wires, and #16É22 AWG for stranded wires while insulation rating is Cu-90 ¡C (194 ¡F). Tighten termination screws up to 0.904 Nm or 8 lb-in. Ground the module to an appropriate grounding surface or object, isolated from analog instrument grounding. This module is provided with a write-on paper label where output identification may be written. Do not strip off the protective covers when the module or the entire enclosure in the installation phase. Metallic or conductive debris from drilling and wire stripping activities may enter the module and damage the circuitry when the module is initially powered up. The module is provided with a finger safe terminal. Route wires under the pressure plate to hold the wire in place. A stripped wire may be directly terminated or used with a spade lug for tighter connection. Compatible spade lugs measure 6.35 mm or 0.25 inches. It is recommended to follow the specified wire size as the total wire quantity when all channels are terminated will allow the moduleÕs cover to be closed and troubleshooting room is maintained. If not followed, termination may still proceed however, wiring inconveniences may be experienced especially during troubleshooting. Configure the module using RSLogix 500 programming software. This operation is required to allow the MicroLogix 1200 controller to recognize the module and operate it accordingly. When successfully defined in the I/O configuration, the software creates a 16-bit register within the output data file. From the output data file, the physical channels may be linked via drag and drop action or manual address entry to the address area of the compatible software component.
