The 1762-OF4 is an analog output module which serves as an expansion module for the 1762 MicroLogix Product family. Analog output modules are used to control modulating devices, whether open loop or closed loop control. The 1762-OF4 analog output module allows modulating control through analog output signals it generates. These output signals are selectable, in the form of 0-10VDC and 4-20 mA with available format of Scale for PID or Raw/Proportional. The full analog operating range is 0-10.5VDC and 0-21mA. This analog output may be assigned directly as the operatorÕs manual control command, assigned to the PID controllerÕs output for automatic control and result of a mathematical operation. The finger safe terminal block of this module has Ten (10) screw terminals with Two (2) internally connected commons. The terminal block is designed for wire sizes with range of #14 to #22 AWG for solid wire and #16 to #22 AWG for stranded wire. Terminate the wire to the module by stripping the wire appropriately or use a spade lug which measures 6.35 mm (0.25 in.) for a tighter fit. As this is an analog output module, the wireÕs cable shied must be grounded at the moduleÕs end for noise rejection. Ideal implementation is to ground both ends of the cable and if necessary, install a capacitor with 0.01µF to block AC power ground currents. Never ground the cable shield to AC ground. Though this module is an analog output module, it creates both input and output data file. The input data file of this module is automatically created when the module is successfully configured. This data file is a 32-Bit register or 2 Word file, where channel data, General status bits, Over range flag bits and under range flag bits are stored. General status bits are single bit register that activates when an error such as under range or over range is existing or general module failure is existing. Over range flag indicate that the data received in the output channel exceeds the user range which can be used in the logic program and further integrated to Human Machine Interface (HMI), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), and Distributed Control Systems (DCS). It may also be directly assigned to a physical output for external notification. Similarly, the under range may be designed to perform the same feature. The main difference is that the underrange flags are designed to monitor and indicate if the calculated output data exceeds the user range. The output data file creates Four (4) 16-Bit register with each Word representing the data of each channel. If configured as Raw data, the raw value ranges from 0-32760 while if configured for Scaled for PID, the Raw value ranges from 0 - 16380 units. Another file is created is which is configuration data file. This data file saves each channelÕs configuration. This data file provides 16-Bit register with bits 0-7 being reserved, Bits 8-11 assigned for Type / Range Selection while Data Format is saved in bits 12-14. Bit 15 is reserved.
