This module is a combination input and output module which supports a wide variety of signals such as Two (2) Current inputs compatible for 0-20 mA, 4-20 mA, Two (2) selectable inputs compatible for 0-20 mA, 4-20 mA, 0-5 V, 1-5 V, 0-10 V, ±10 V and Thermocouple types J, K, E, T. It also has Four (4) Voltage / Current outputs compatible for 0-20 mA, 4-20 mA, 0-5 V, 1-5 V, 0-10 V, ±10 V signal types. Channels 4 and 5 are dedicated Current input channels while Channels 6 and 7 are configurable for Current and Voltage as well as Thermocouple inputs. This module is a cost-effective solution due to its compatibility with a variety of input and output signals. It is also for use in temperature applications as Thermocouple sensors are practically used for temperature applications. The module has 16-bit resolution, with integrated open circuit detection which may be used to detect the health of connected instrument and further integrated to control systems for instrument and signal monitoring. This integral channel health detection may also be used as an interlock to implement control mode changes. Each channel is also equipped with Four (4) selectable filter frequencies such as 4Hz, 17Hz, 62Hz, and 470Hz and adjustable sampling times of 495ms, 135ms, 45ms and 20ms. The received input signals may be assigned with internal data format such as engineering units x1, Engineering units x 10, Scaled for PID and Raw / Proportional data while the output channels may be similarly assigned with the same formats with an additional option of Percent Range data format. The process temperature range to which the module may be used are -200 to 1000 ûC (-328 to 1832 ûF), equivalent for Thermocouple Type E, -180 to 1200 ûC (-292 to 2192 ûF) for Thermocouple Type J, -200 to 1370 ûC (-328 to 2498 ûF) for Thermocouple Type K and -190 to 400 ûC (-310 to 752 ûF) for Thermocouple Type T. Similar to Allen-Bradley made MicroLogix expansion modules, the 1762sc-IF4OF4 communicate to the processors by establishing connection to the MicroLogix bus to receive 5VDC and 24VDC voltages, to energize and perform the moduleÕs designed operation. Physical connection is established via the provided flat ribbon cable that comes with the module. Each channel of the 1762sc-IF4OF4 module supports differential and single ended input wiring. It is also equipped with a Cold-Junction Compensation (CJC) terminal intended for Thermocouple inputs, enabling accurate reading. If used with 2-wire transmitters, provide an external power supply as the module is not capable of providing loop power signal. Analog inputs are processed via an internal Delta-Sigma analog to digital conversion. This converter is responsible for converting the analog signal to 16-bit digital values for storage to the moduleÕs local memory. This conversion is applicable for voltage and current inputs. If Thermocouple is used, the compensator continuously updates, corrects, and compensate the temperature reading. The output channels also use Digital to analog output signal converter.
