The 1766-L32BWAA is a MicroLogix 1400 programmable Logic Controller (PLC), with embedded discrete and analog control capability. This controller is also provided with an LCD screen for local configuration of the controller, fault diagnostics, I/O monitoring, communication configuration, data manipulation and other user actions.
The 1766-L32BWAA has embedded I/O channels such as Twelve (12) Fast 24V DC, Eight (8) Normal 24V DC Inputs, Two (2) Voltage inputs, Twelve (12) Relay outputs and Two (2) Voltage output channels. The fast inputs are assigned for input channels 0-11 with maximum switching frequency of 100 kHz. The fast inputs are ideal for use in high-speed counting applications and metering applications. The analog inputs and outputs have voltage range of 0-10VDC with 12-bit resolution. Analog inputs are typically used for measurement of analog process variables such as Flow, Level, Pressure, Temperature, Turbidity, Viscosity, speed, and other process variables. The analog output may be assigned for manual entry objects such as hardware numeric keypad entry, software numeric entry, result of mathematical operation or controller output of a Proportional + Integral + Derivative (PID) controller for implementing automatic control of modulating devices.
The analog input channels have software selectable input filters such as 250 Hz, 60 Hz, 50Hz, and 10Hz. All these channels have 1kHz sampling frequency. Filter setting are commonly set for conditioning the input data, especially for Fast reacting processes to eliminate erratic reading and fluctuations.
The 1766-L32BWAA is expandable, compatible with 1762-MicroLogix I/O expansion modules. Up to Seven (7) expansion modules are supporter by this controller and up to 256 discrete I/O may be reached.
There are Two (2) RS232 communication ports provided with this controller. One is an dedicated 9-PIN D-sub connector, non-isolated 8-Pin mini DIN RS232 channel while the other is an isolated RS232/RS485 combo port. Both these communication channels support DF1 Full-Duplex, DF1 Half-Duplex, DH485, ASCII, DNP3, and MODBUS RTU. These communication channels is also compatible with external interface converters, to allow connection to a communication network. Allen-Bradley interface converters are 1761-NET-AIC and 1761-NET-DNI. Compatible serial communication cables are 1761-CBL-AM00 Series C or later, 1761-CBL-AP00 Series C or later, 1761-CBL-PM02 Series C or later, 1761-CBL-HM02 Series C or later 2707-NC9 Series C or later, 1763-NC01 Series A or later, and 1747-CP3 Series A or later. The third communication port is an Ethernet communication channel, supporting Ethernet I/P, MODBUS TCP I/P and DNP3 over Ethernet. These communication ports are capable of simultaneously communication with different communication partners such as Human Machine Interface (HMI), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), enterprise tools, databases, gateways and protocol converters. Typically, RS232 is used for plan-floor communication not exceeding 15 meters, RS485 is used for direct communication with Power Meters, UPS, and other industrial components and devices.
This controller has internal 20KB memory which is partitioned for 10KB user program and 10KB program data. This memory stores user-defined program for execution of the processor. It also has an internal 128KB assigned for data logging and 64KB allocated for recipe data management. This memory is not configurable however may be complemented by adding a non-volatile memory with catalog number 1766-MM1.
