The Allen-Bradley 1764-MM1RTC is a combination module that features a memory module with 8KB memory and a Real-time clock in a common housing. This module is an accessory module for MicroLogix 1500 controller. Not only it provides a battery independent memory, it also provides an accurate time and day reference for scheduling of PLC loads and control elements. Similar to other memory modules, the memory of this combination module is an Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory (EEPROM). The contents stored to this memory module cannot be easily erased unless a specific voltage is applied to the memory componentÕs pin. This memory component is sensitive to electrostatic discharge. It may not completely delete the program but corrupt parts of the data causing unreadable or unrecognized file. The Real Time Clock has an accuracy of 0 ¡C or +32 ¡F, accuracy is +34 to -70 seconds/month. Data stored are YR - RTC Year with range of 1998-2097, MON - RTC Month with range of 1-12, DAY - RTC Day of Month with range of 1 to 31, HR - RTC Hours with range of 0 to 23 (military time), MIN - RTC Minutes with range of 0 to 59, SEC - RTC Seconds with range of 0 to 59, DOW - RTC Day of Week with range of 0 to 6 (Sunday to Saturday), DS - Disabled with value select ion of 0 to 1 and BL - RTC Battery Low with Boolean range of 0-1. This module is configured using RSLogix 500 Programming software. Especially the memory module, burning of program is initiated via the programming software. To burn program to the memory module, an active connection to the controller must be established. Initiate Load to EEPROM command from the COMMS menu > EEPROM > Store to EEPROM. These commands are initiated using RSlogix 500 programming software. The Real time clock has an unreplaceable battery. When the battery charge has been activated, it warns the user that within 14 days from the first indication, the battery will likely drain. This can be verified via the RTC:0/BL bit. If this bit is set to 1, this confirms that the battery charge is low. If the bit is reset, it may mean that the battery voltage level is within acceptable level of module is not connected.
