The Allen-Bradley 1756-L55M22 is a ControlLogix controller module. A battery-backed 750 KB user memory unit is available on the 1756-L55M22, and 63 days is the minimum backup time provided by the 1756-BA1 memory unit, while the 1756-BATA and 1756-BATM battery modules provide a minimum of 299 days of backup (the battery backup specifications are valid for a maximum ambient temperature of 77 degrees Fahrenheit). An integrated 750 KB non-volatile memory is also provided which can be enhanced by installing optional 64 MB or 128 MB CompactFlash memory modules. Up to 208 KB of I/O memory for the storage of I/O tags, consumed tags, and produced tags is also available.
One serial port is provided on the 1756-L55M22 which supports multiple protocols including the ASCII, DH-485, and DF1. The serial port can be used for the programming of the module using the RSLogix 5000 software. The programming languages which can be used include the SFC, relay ladder, function block, and structured text. The recommended serial programming cables include the 1756-CP3 and 1747-CP3. Integration with other networks is made possible through optional communication modules which include Ethernet, Remote I/O, DH+, and DeviceNet networks. The 1756-L55M22 is installed inside a slot in a 1756 I/O chassis and its current draw is 1.23 Amps at 5 Volts DC or 14 milliamps at 24 Volts DC. The thermal dissipation of the module can go up to 19.1 BTU/hour and the power dissipation can go up to 5.6 Watts. The 1756-L55M22 requires a 32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit ambient temperature range and 5 to 95% relative humidity for optimal performance. It can withstand 2G of vibration at 10 to 500 Hertz and 30G of shock.
