The 1756-L61 processor module is part of the ControLogix series of products designed by Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation. This module/controller has Series A and Series B variants and it features a fixed memory of 2, 4, or 8 MB and a non-volatile memory which is available through the integration of a Compact Flash card as an option. In addition to that, the non-volatile optional memory for backup storage is 128 MB maximum and the controller also features a user memory of 2 MB and I/O memory of 478 KB. This controller uses only the 1784-CF128 Compact Flash memory card. The product codes for chassis that are compatible with this controller are 1756-A4/A7/A10/A13 and -A17. The 1756-L61 processor module has 128,000 maximum I/O and 4,000 Input/2,000 Output for the maximum analog I/O. The backplane current at 5 Volts DC is 1.2 Amps and the backplane current at 24 Volts DC is 14 mA. Besides that, it is relevant to mention its program scan time is 0.08 milliseconds.
The ControlLogix controller comes in a small and cost-effective package and its modularity enhances the overall system that is being controlled by it. The users can easily modify and tailor the module according to requirements and in that way reduce costs significantly. The 1756-L61 controller can be part of a system that consists of an independent controller and I/O modules in 1 chassis or part of the more advanced system with multiple controllers in 1 chassis, multiple controllers that operate in combination through network communication or multiple platform I/O. The 1756-L61 controller comes with a built in RS-232 serial port for communications and the available communication modules include the DF1 full/half-duplex, DF1 radio modem, DH-485, Modbus via logic, and the ASCII. Besides this, the controllers support various optional communication solutions in EtherNet/IP, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Data Highway Plus, SynchLink, Remote I/O, and third-party processes and networks for devices. The controller supports the 1756-BA1 or 1756-BATM battery for its backup power. The operating temperature of the controller should be between 0 and 60 degrees Celsius (32 and 140 degrees Fahrenheit) and it can withstand a vibration of 10 to 500 Hertz. The controller operates in environments with a relative humidity of 5 to 95%. The controller weighs only 0.32 kilograms or 0.71 pounds.
The 1756-L61 controller is a standard ControlLogix controller that has been manufactured by Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation. This controller comes with battery-backed clock support that enables the users to manage the memory retention during a power failure. This battery-backed clock is useful since it reduces data losses. This controller comes with a built-in serial port and with up to 250 connections for industrial controllers. The memory unit of this controller is a CompactFlash card and it comes with 6 status indicators that help the users to have a glimpse of the current operating status of the controller during operation. The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 1756-L61 standard ControlLogix controller comes in 2 versions (A and B), and it is meant to be used with the RSLogix 5000 Software in version 12.06.00 or later for Controller Type A and version 13.04.00 or later for Controller Type B.
The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 1756-L61 standard ControlLogix controller can perform up to 32 tasks and up to 100 programs per task at a time. It can manage event triggers and it comes with 1 RS-232 serial port. This controller comes with many communication options such as the Ethernet/IP, ControlNet, Device Net, Data Highway Plus, and other network options. The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 1756-L61 standard ControlLogix controller can be used with different programming languages such as the relay ladder, structured text, function block, and sequential function chart (SFC) languages, depending on the applications and their settings. This controller comes with 2 MB of memory that is available for the data and Logic and 478 KB for the I/O. A back-up memory device such as a CompactFlash card can also be used.
The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 1756-L61 standard ControlLogix controller comes with an SD card that is used to store non-volatile memory. It also comes with status indicators that show the current status of operations with the controller.
