The 1756-L85E is a Logix5580 ControlLogix processor from Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley. The processor can handle 32 controller tasks with each task accommodating a maximum of 1000 programs and the local I/O event triggers have no limit. For communication, the 1756-L85E has a single built-in USB port and an extended EtherNet port. At 5.1 Volts DC and 1.2 Volts DC, the 1756-L85E draws a current of 1.2 Amps and 5.0 mA, respectively. The processor can handle a maximum of 128,000 I/O, with the analog I/O not exceeding 4,000 and the digital I/O not exceeding 128,000. The 1756-L85E Logix5580 ContolLogix processor has a user memory of 40 MB plus an optional 2 GB of non-volatile storage capacity which is provided by the 1784-SD2 Secure Digital Card. The 1756-L85E also comes fitted with a non-detachable energy storage module. The power and thermal dissipation ratings for the 1756-L85E are 6 Watts and 21.2 BTU per hour, respectively. The 50 Volts continuous isolation voltage provides minimal isolation between the USB port and the backplane, the Ethernet port and the backplane, and the USB port and the Ethernet port. The isolation voltage is tested for 60 seconds at a voltage of 1,000 Volts AC.
The 1756-L85E occupies a single slot in the 1756-A4, 1756-A4K, 1756-A7, 1756-A7K, 1756-A10, 1756-A10K, 1756-A13, 1756-A13K,1756-A17, and the 1756-A17 K Series B, Series C I/O chassis. For the power supply, the 1756-L85E accommodates standard power supplies like the 1756-PA50, 1756-PA72, 1756-PA72K, 1756-PA75, 1756-PA75K, 1756-PB50, 1756-PB72, 1756-PB72K, 1756-PB75, 1756-PB75K, 1756-PH75, or the 1756-PC75. Additionally, the 1756-L85E can be operated with the 1756-PA75R, 1756-PA75RK, 1756-PB75R, 1756-PB75RK, 1756-PSCA2, or the 1756-PSCA2K redundant power supplies. The 1756-L85E supports a maximum of 300 Ethernet/IP nodes. The processors supports Ethernet/IP, ControlNet, DeviceNet, DH+, Remote I/O, and SynchLink communication options. For programming, the 1756-L85E supports the Relay Ladder Logic, Structured Text, Function Block Diagram, and the Sequential Function Chart programming languages. The USB port is Type 2.0 and it can be used for configuring, updating the firmware, programming, and on-line edit functions. The port has a full-speed communication of 12 MB per second while the Ethernet port has a maximum rated speed of 1 GB.
