The 1756-LSC8XIB8I is a ControlLogix digital counter module from Allen-Bradley. The module features 8 individually isolated inputs and it operates with a voltage of between 10 and 30 Volts DC, although the nominal operating voltage is capped at 24 Volts DC. Connections to the 1756-LSC8XIB8I are made through either a cage-clamp (1756-TBCH) or a spring-clamp (1756-TBS6H) removable terminal block. The terminal blocks accommodate a 14 AWG stranded copper wire with a minimum temperature rating of 105 degrees Celsius. The 1756-LSC8XIB8I draws a current of 275 mA from the backplane at 5.1 Volts DC and 3.0 mA at 24 Volts DC. The 1756-LSC8XIB8I ControlLogix digital counter module operates within a temperature range of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius. The module has an input-to-backplane reinforced voltage isolation (250 Volts continuous) tested for 60 seconds at a voltage of 2300 Volts AC. Between inputs, the 1756-LSC8XIB8I has a 250 Volts continuous basic insulation tested for 60 seconds at 1500 Volts AC. The 1756-LSC8XIB8I counter module has 8 dedicated 40 kilohertz counters.
The inputs for the 1756-LSC8XIB8I, as with other digital counter modules, are compatible with proximity sensors defined in the IEC 61131-2 directive. A single counter on the 1756-LSC8XIB8I module returns the accumulated count; instantaneous and average frequencies, and the instantaneous and average pulse width. With the 1756-LSC8XIB8I, the RSLogix5000 software can be used to program a change of state. Additionally, the 1756-LSC8XIB8I has a maximum off-state voltage and a current of 5 Volts and 1.5 mA, respectively. At 10 and 30 Volts DC, the 1756-LSC8XIB8I has a minimum and maximum On-state current of 2 and 5 mA, respectively. At 60 degrees Celsius, the 1756-LSC8XIB8I counter module dissipates 3.8 watts. The module has a thermal dissipation rating of 12.97 BTU per hour, a total backplane power of 1.47 watts, and a cyclic update time of between 200 microseconds and 750 milliseconds. The 1756-LSC8XIB8I occupies a single slot in the I/O chassis. It also has reverse polarity protection.
