The Allen-Bradley 1756-M02AS is an analog servo interface drive with a Synchronous Serial Interface (SSI) feedback feature. The drive has a resolution range of between 8 and 31 bits. The 1756-M02AS provides a mechanism to interface the SSI outputs with transducers using RS-422 with 5 Volts differential signals. These signals comprise data generated by the transducer and a clock emanating from the controller. The 1756-M02AS is primarily developed to be used with drives or actuators requiring +/-10 Volts torque reference input. Additionally, the 1756-M02AS has an intelligent transducer noise detection filtering system in the hardware and firmware. Unlike the differential encoder interface used by the 1756-M02A, the 1756-M02AS has a differential clock output and data return signals. The 1756-M02AS is part of the ControlLogix family of servo interface drives. Drives in this family provide for either an open-loop or a closed-loop motion control for compatible devices.
The 1756-M02AS supports an output load with a minimum impedance of 100 ohms. Also, the analog servo interface drive has a 208 or 625 kilohertz clock frequency, a binary or gray code transducer, and a response time rated at 1 servo update period which is user-calibrated between 250 and 2000 microseconds. The 1756-M02AS has other inputs (current sinking, optically isolated) a 24 Volts DC normal input voltage, a maximum and minimum on-state and off-state voltage of 17 and 26.4 Volts DC, and an input impedance of 7.5 kiloohms. The operating vibration and shock for the 1756-M02AS are rated at 2G and 30G, respectively, with the vibration tested at a frequency of between 10 and 500 Hertz. The non-operating shock for the 1756-M02AS is rated at 50G.
