The Logix5555 controller belongs to the Series A of the ControlLogix Controllers and it is manufactured and designed by Allen-Bradley. The Allen-Bradley Logix5555 controller requires a specific memory board to have a proper functioning. This memory board must be compatible with the controller and the correct firmware revision needs to be used. Prior to the installation of the Allen-Bradley Logix5555 controller, a ControlLogix chassis and a power supply must be installed. The recommended specifications for the Allen-Bradley Logix5555 controller are an operating temperature range of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius, a relative humidity of 5 to 95%, maximum operating vibrations of 2g, and maximum operating shocks of 30g.
When the Allen-Bradley Logix5555 controller is connected to a DeviceNet module, it is able to support messaging to devices, it offers diagnostics for improved data collection and fault detection, and it requires less wiring than standard and hard-wired systems. As a matter of safety, power must be removed before inserting or removing memory cards, inserting or removing the controller while backplane power is on, connecting or disconnecting the battery and serial cable. If these instructions not followed, it could cause an explosion in hazardous locations. The Allen-Bradley Logix5555 controller is sensitive to electrostatic discharges, these could cause internal damage and affect regular operations. When handling this device, it is recommended to touch a grounded object to discharge potential static, to work in a static-safe workstation,to keep the equipment stored in an appropriate static-safe place, and to wear a grounding wrist strap.
