The Allen-Bradley 1771-A3B1 is a universal I/O chassis that isused for mounting the 1771 I/O modules. It supports only the back panel mounting type and it has 12 I/O mounting slots. The 1771-A3B1 is a standalone chassis and it weighs 5.7 kgs. When mounting the 1771 I/O modules onto the chassis, the electrical requirement of the modules should be taken into consideration. The modules should be mounted from right to left.
The spacing guidelines should be adhered to when mounting modules on the 1771-A3B1. Four inches of space should be left between the 1771-A3B1 chassis enclosure walls and a major component, 6 inches should be the minimum space between the major components in the vertical position, and a spacing of 4 inches should be left between the major components when mounted horizontally. Additionally, a spacing of 6 inches should be left between the top or bottom of the 1771-A3B1 chassis enclosure and the major 1771 I/O modules when mounted vertically and 6 inches should be left free between the wiring ducts and a major component.
The 1771-A3B1 is purposely intended for use in an industrial environment which has a non-condensing relative humidly range of 5-95%. The 1771-A3B1 chassis has a non-operating temperature rating of -40-85 degrees Celsius. The module approximately measure 315mm by 483mm by 193mm. The 1771-A3B1 operates in environments that have a temperature not exceeding 60 degrees Celsius. In case of expansions, the 1771-A3B1 can be replaced with ease with a bigger chassis. The 1771-P1, 1771-P2, 1771-P7 and the 1771-PS7 power supplies can only be mounted on the right-side plate of the 1771-A3B1 chassis.
