The 1771-A4B is an Allen-Bradley I/O chassis for mounting the 1771 I/O modules. The 1771-A4B has 16 slots and it supports the back panel mounting type. The I/O chassis measures approximately 12.4 inches by 24 inches by 7.6 inches. The 1771-A4B weighs 6.7Kgs in average. The 1771-A4B provides an open type enclosure, has a 15g operating shock rating and a 30g non-operating shock. The 1771 PLC-5 system requires the I/O chassis like the 1771-A4B to enhance the mounting of its various modules. With the 1771 PLC-5 system modules mounted on the 1771-A4B chassis, communication across the processor module, the I/O modules, and the I/O adapter module is achieved through the backplane.
The 1771-A4B I/O chassis does not accept an assigned I/O rack number at the beginning of the 1771-A4B I/O chassis. Whether you choose the 2-slot, 1-slot, or 12-slot addressing, the beginning I/O group number is 0 when assigning the I/O rack number in the 1771-A4B I/O chassis. The 1771-A4B has a higher backplane current strength and it supports even high density addressing of the I/O modules.
The backplane switches of the 1771-A4B chassis should be set accordingly for the PLC-5 processor. All the backplane swathes: 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, should also be identified and switched accordingly on the PLC-5 processors. At an industrial setting, the 1771-A4B is meant to be operated within a temperature range of between 0 and 60 degrees Celsius. At an operating frequency between 10 and 500Hz, the 1771-A4B I/O chassis has a 2g vibration rating.
