The Allen-Bradley 1771-ACN is a ControlNet adaptor module. The module enhances the exchange of information between certified third-party products and Allen-Bradley products. The 1771-ACN has a high-speed data transfer rate and diagnostic messages. The NAP (Network Access Port) makes communication possible through the local communication network. The PLC-5/40C and PLC-5/20 are compatible with the 1771-ACN module. The 1771-ACN has a status display, ControlNet status indicators, commination rest push buttons, and one ControlNet connector. At the top of the 1771-ACN module there are module net address assemblies.
For easier monitoring and troubleshooting of the 1771-ACN module, the OK indicator is located on the face of the module. The net address status, which is an alphanumeric display, indicates an error during operation or initialization. The reset push button is used to revert the module back to normal when a communication error occurs. A reset is only possible when the RSET function is active. When the backplane switch is in the PRL position, a reset is also possible. The 1771-ACN is connected to the ControlNet network with either a straight T-tap (1786-TPS)/ Y-tap (1786-TPYS), a right-angled T-tap (1786-TPR), or a right-angled Y-tap (1786-TPYR)
The free word allocated to an adjacent I/O module slot is used by the 1771-ACN module to address a 32-point I/O module in an I/O group containing one slot. The 1771-ACN draws a backplane current of 1A at 5V. The module should be mounted on the far left slot in the I/O chassis. The upper keying band connectors should be between bands 54-56 and the lower connectors between bands 16-18.
