The 1771-ACNR is a ControlNet I/O adapter module. It has two ControlNet connectors and a module address switch assembly on the upper part of the module. The module has an OK indicator located on its face. This indicator eases troubleshooting by indicating the status of the remote I/O system. i.e. in error or normal operating conditions. Errors when the system is initializing are indicated by the net address status on the alphanumeric display.
The 1771-ACNR module can only be reset when the RSET function on the status module is active or when the backplane switch has moved to the PRL position. This will also show on the status display as “PRL.” The 1771-ACNR module has two channels to connect non-redundant media and Allen-Bradley recommends Channel A to be used in case both channels are active. The 1771-ACNR module can be connected to the ControlNet network using either straight or right-angled taps.
These taps are the 1786-TPS, 1786-TPYS, 1786-TPR and the 1786-TPYR. For the network to be reliable, the taps should be purchased only from Allen-Bradley. The NAP port is used to access the local communication networks for maintenance and programing purposes. The 1771-ACNR communicates at a rate of 5Mb per second. Additionally, it comes with a high-speed data transfer rate and supports only the 2-slot, 1-slot, and ½-slot addressing modes. The 1771-ACNR supports redundant media and provides diagnostic messages. The module draws a backplane current of 1A at 5V DC. The 1771-ACNR should mount on the leftmost side of the I/O chassis and an RG-6 coaxial. Quad shield cable is used when wiring the 1771-ACNR ControlNet adaptor module.
