The 1771-ALX is a local Input Output adapter module from Allen Bradley. The 1771-ALX occupies the left-most slot on the 1771 I/O chassis. This module provides a way to disengage the rack from the BUS without requiring a shutdown and without affecting the whole system. The BUS holds a maximum of 16 1771-ALX local I/O adapters. The last module should be terminated with the 1771-CXT termination plug which is purchased with the programmable logic controllers (the PLC-5/40L and the PLC-5/60L). Any cables connecting to the 1771-ALX local adapter module should not exceed a length of 30 meters. The 5, 2 or 1 meter cables can be used in any order. On one end, the cables have a dual-end connector that connects to the mating connector on the face of the 1771-ALX module, while on the other it has a single-end connector that connects to the PLC or the adjacent 1771-ALX.The 1771-ALX uses cables that correspond to the catalog numbers of 1771-CX1, 1771-CX2, and 1771-CX5 (1, 2, and 5 meters) for connections. The 1771-ALX has a maximum power dissipation of 6.3 Watts, while 5.7 Watts of power is its minimum dissipation. The module has 21.48 BTU/hour maximum thermal dissipation; its minimum thermal dissipation is around 19.44BTU/hour. The 1771-ALX local I/O module draws a current of 1.2 A at 5 Volts DC from the backplane. It has an operating temperature rating of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius and a storage temperature rating of between -40 and 85 degrees Celsius. It operates optimally at a non-condensing relative humidity between 5% and 95%.The Allen Bradley 1771-ALX functions optimally when the backplane’s switches on the I/O chassis, in addition to those on the module, are in line with a specific module. For monitoring and troubleshooting, the 1771-ALX has indicators (3 LED lights.) on its face.
