The 1771-IC module by Allen Bradley is an 8 input digital DC input module used in assembling PLC-5 systems. It requires 74 milliamps of power at 5 volts DC to remain functional. It is compatible with the 1771-WA wiring arm and operates at voltages between 42 and 56 volts DC.  It has a 3.7 milliamp maximum DC current in the OFF state. In on state the average signal delay is 15 (+/- 7) milliseconds while in off state the average signal delay is 20 (+/- 7) milliseconds. Its power dissipation is 3.7 Watts at maximum and 0.4 Watts at minimum. The 1771-IC has input filtering capabilities which reduces the consequences of voltage transients resulting from contact bounce and/or electrical noise. This feature is beneficial since it significantly lengthens product life and reduces the risk of downtime due to electrically-related issues.

This module is highly susceptible to electrostatic damage. Hence, it is shipped in a static-shielded bag. Therefore, when handling the 1771-IC module, wear an anti-static wrist band or touch a grounded object to discharge static energy from yourself, avoid touching the backplane connector or pins and make use of a static-free workstation. If the module is not in use, return to the static-shielded bag for storage. Be sure to power off the 1771 input/output backplane prior to the removal and/or installation of this module, as this may cause damage to equipment and personal injury. Ensure that the 1771 chassis backplane is receiving enough power to supply this module prior to installation, to avoid overloading. Observe polarity as reverse polarity can result in possible damage to the module.
