The Allen-Bradley and Rockwell Automation 1771-IFEK is a conformally-coated PLC-5 analog input module. The term “conformally-coated” is used to mean that the 1771-IFEK input module is protected by a polymeric film that shields it from humidity and contamination. The 1771-IFEK input module has 16 single-ended and 8 differential low-level inputs per module. The nominal input voltage ranges for the 1771-IFEK input module are 1-5V DC, 0-5V DC, -5-5V DC, -10-10V DC and 0-10V DC. On the other hand, the nominal input current ranges for 1771-IFEK module are 4-20mA, 0-20mA, and -20-20mA. With regards to the resolution, the 1771-IFEK input module has 12-bit binary and 12-bit plus sign on bipolar ranges. The linearity as well as the repeatability is recorded as +/-1LSB while the power dissipation of 1771-IFEK module is recorded as 2.5 watts maximum.
From the factory, the Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 1771-IFEK input module comes with a 1771-WG wiring arm. The 1771-IFEK senses up to 16 single-ended or 8 differential analog inputs that it later converts to a proportional BCD of 4 digits or a 12-bit binary value. Regardless of the ranges one selects while operating the 1771-IFEK input module, whether from the 5 ranges of input voltage or from the 3 nominal current input ranges, the results are convertible in this device to proportional BCD and binary values. Each input can be easily configured as a current or voltage input with the internal jumpers found in the 1771-IFEK module. The 1771-IFEK module uses the block transfer programing technique to transfer its input words to and from the memory to the processor table. The 1771-IFEK requires only a single slot for installation onto the 1771 I/O chassis without the need for external power supplies.
