The Rockwell automation/Allen-Bradley 1771-IND module is a general purpose PLC5 digital input module that supports 16 input units. The 1771-IND module uses 24 volts of both the AC and DC voltage connections when on a 250mA backplane current. As an AC solid-state digital I/O module, the 1771-IND module supports various applications with a 10-276V AC voltage range, and it has a long life that ranges between 20-100 million operations. The 1771-IND module has an operating voltage of 16-30V AC and of 9-30V DC with the maximum AC off-state current of 1.5mA and the maximum DC off-state current is 0.6mA. The Allen-Bradley 1771-IND module has a typical signal delay in the ON-state of 25-45ms when on AC and this shifts to 10ms when on DC. In the OFF-state, this AC signal delay is 30-60ms while the DC delay is stated as 50ms. The 1771-IND module has a design that is convenient for mounting it on a rack.
The main purpose of the 1771-IND input module is to convert AC signals from the user devices to a logic level that is appropriate for the processor. Hence this 1771-IND module is an interface for devices like the limit switch, proximity switch, selector switch, float switch and the pushbutton switch. The 1771-WH acts as a wiring arm while changing the modules, hence eliminating need to interfere with the wiring system. The 1771-IND also has a unique input feature that allows the users of the various devices to reduce the impact of voltage transients that are a result of the contact bounce or the electrical noise.
