The 1771-NBTC is a PLC5 high-resolution I/O module by Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation that belongs to the 1771-N series product range. The module is made to work with any PLC3, PLC5 and PLC5/250 controller and it is known to support 2 current outputs rated at 0-25mA and 6 mV/TC thermocouple inputs that are rated at +/-100mV which could belong to types B, E, J, K, R, S and T. This 1771-NBTC module draws a 1.5A backplane current from the I/O chassis and it dissipates 7.5W worth of power while it is in use.

Based on the type of thermocouple that the module uses, the range for the input channels for the 1771-NBTC module is selectable. Case in point, Type B supports 300-1800oC, Type E -270 to 1000 oC, Type J -210 to 1200 oC, Type K -270-1372 oC, Types R and S -50 to 1768 oC, and Type T supports -270 to 400 oC. The resolution of the inputs in this 1771-NBTC module is 3.3µV/bit at 15 bits and the input impedance is more than 10megaohms.

The 1771-NBTC I/O module provides an output overvoltage protection of 140V AC RMS continuous rating and during use; it is recommended that this module be connected with the RTP-1. In addition, the 1771-NBTC module is expected to perform optimally when it is placed in a working environment with a temperature range of 32-140oF at 5-95% non-condensing relative humidity. From the factory, the 1771-NBTC module is packed with a 1771-WH wiring arm but the power has to be switched off while disconnecting or connecting the module on to the 1771 chassis.
