The high-resolution 1771-NIV module is an analog input module by Allen-Bradley or Rockwell Automation which is part of the Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 1771-N series of analog input modules. Equipped with 8 voltage and current input channels that is rated for +/-20mA (+/-5 Volts), the 1771-NIV module does not have any output channels. The 1771-NIV analog input module combines with programmable controllers like the Allen-Bradley PLC-5, PLC-3, and PLC-5/250 programmable controllers. The 1771-NIV module dissipates 6W of heat while it is in use and consumes about 1.2 Amps of backplane current from the 1771- chassis where it is connected. The 1771-NIV module takes a maximum of 5 seconds to detect if an input circuit is open and it has a rejection normal mode of 50/60dB while the typical common mode is 150dB. The typical AC signal delay has been set to range between 30 and 60 milliseconds with the typical DC signal delay set at 50 milliseconds.

From the factory, the 1771-NIV input module comes with an Allen-Bradley 1771-WH wiring arm and recommendations for use that would allow this module to work optimally. For instance, Allen-Bradley recommends that the 1771-NIV module be used with an RTP-4 for voltage inputs and an RTP-3 for the current inputs. In addition, the company also recommends that during the installation or removal of the 1771-NIV module, power be disconnected from the 1771 I/O chassis. As for the working environment, the 1771-NIV input module is designed to work effectively when the operating temperature is 0 to 60 degrees Celsius at 5 to 95% non-condensing relative humidity.
