The Allen-Bradley 1771-P2 is an Auxiliary Power Supply module. This auxiliary power supplies devices with a 5.1 Volts DC voltage and it has a maximum output current of 6.5 Amps. The auxiliary power supply can power up I/O chassis from bulletin 1771 series when equipped with an adapter module. It can be used also to supply a 1772 Mini-PLC-2 processor or to supply a 1772 Mini-PLC-2/15 processor. The device can be supplied with 120 Volts AC or with 230 to 240 Volts AC. The user should pay attention to configure this device (place jumpers) to be ready for connection to an appropriate input voltage. The Allen-Bradley 1771-P2 is protected from overcurrent at its inputs by a 1 Amp rated fuse. This is how the device is delivered from the factory and this is only appropriate for 120 Volts AC on the input side. If planning to use a 230 Volt AC supply, change the module’s fuse with one 0.5 Amps rated.
Note that The Allen-Bradley 1771-P2 does not provide battery backup. For that purpose, use a system power supply (order number 1771-P1). This power supply unit can be mounted next to 1771 I/O chassis (to the left side) or within a 5-feet range from it (with 1771-CD cable). Never install this module underneath an I/O chassis because it can lead to heat transfer obstruction. Use 1771-CE or 1771-CD cable to connect this power supply to the backplane of I/O chassis. The power supply is equipped with a LED indicator that is “on” during power supply operation. Its dimensions are 116 millimeters x 286 millimeters x 182 millimeters (4.56 inches x 11.25 inches x 7.16inches).
