The Allen-Bradley 1771-SIM is an input simulation and output indicating module that belongs to the Allen-Bradley 1771 series of I/O modules. The switches on this module simulate open/closed devices. The main function of the Allen-Bradley 1771-SIM input simulation and output indicating module is to transfer data from the module's memory to a specific area (previously designated by the users) in the processor data table. This module does not require any external power supply; the users can supply loop power by the means of a transducer for input. This module uses a block transfer wire to transfer configuration data and it receives analog signals generated by external devices and it can be physically inserted into any 1771 I/O chassis. The main parts of the module are status indicators that show which outputs are active and input simulation switches.
The Allen-Bradley 1771-SIM input simulation and output indicating module requires 8 input simulating switches and 8 output indicators, and a backplane current of 300 milliamps at 5 Volts DC. The environmental conditions are an operating temperature range of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius, a storage temperature of -40 to 85 degrees Celsius, and a relative humidity of 5 to 95%, non-condensing. The altitude can be up to 2000 meters without derating. This module is intended to operate in a Pollution Degree 2 environment and in Overvoltage Category II applications. The backplane power of the Allen-Bradley 1771-SIM input simulation and output indicating module is powered by the chassis supply. Besides the backplane current, there is no other accessible terminal.
