The Allen-Bradley 1771-WE PLC-5 field thermocouple wiring arm is a high-current thermal type of supplementary part made from thermoplastic that is suitable for industrial use. This wiring arm supports up to 8 I/O points and 18 terminals with gold contact plating. Conformal coating provides additional protection, making this wiring arm perfect for heavy-duty use. The 1771-WE wiring arm can operate without using external sources of power. According to the specifications of the unit, the typical AC signal delay (off) of the wiring arm is 29 milliseconds and typical DC signal delay (off) is 30 milliseconds, though the delay tolerates variations of between +/-7 and +/-8 milliseconds. The digital module for which the wiring arm is used is powered through the backplane of the chassis. Usually, the 1771-WE PLC-5 field wiring arm comes with other shipped parts for most of the modules of this type but it could also be purchased separately if necessary.
The Allen-Bradley wiring arms increase the provided flexibility of the system due to the unique interconnection between plant wirings and modules, further simplifying the operation. When installing the arm, the users need to make sure it is attached to the pivot bar located at the bottom of the I/O chassis. This makes installing and removing the module even easier since there is no need to disconnect the wires. The 1771 digital I/O DC input and output modules can withstand high temperatures so they can operate in a temperature range of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius (32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit) and they can be stored at temperatures ranging between -40 to 85 degrees Celsius (-40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit). The acceptable humidity levels for these modules range from 5 to 95% (non-condensing).
