The 1785-L20C15 is a product from Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation and it is a PLC 5 PLC-5/20C ControlNet PLC-5 Processor, with Forcible 512 and a Nonforcible 32000 Maximum Analog I/O, a maximum user memory of 16 Kilowords., 2.7 Amps (Typical) and up to 3.0 Amps (Maximum) backplane current (at 5 Volts). It features a modular and chassis-based, multiple system capability, a keyswitch mode selector, and it has status LEDs. The Allen-Bradley 1785-L20C15 and the entire 1785 Series Ethernet and ControlNet PLC-5 Processors are chassis-based, with a modular family that provides flexibility in networking, programming, and I/O. It offers the best choice of controllers to match the user’s exact requirements. The 1785-L20C15 is well-suited for a wide range of applications. The PLC-5 controller combines the existing as well as future systems through networks like ControlNet, DeviceNet, and Ethernet/IP, and it also offers connectivity among SLC 500, ControlLogix, and MicroLogix controllers.

The EtherNet/IP key features include an information layer, high bandwidth, the ability to be used over the Internet, and rapid exchange of information. The Allen-Bradley 1785-L20C15 ControlNet’s key features are the controlled layer, transfers I/O and program data, deterministic, and high-speed while the DeviceNet key features include an open standard, a device layer, and directly connected low-level devices. With the flexibility to grow with the need of the users without having to sacrifice capital when training investments, the PLC-5 controllers are well suited and designed to continue maintaining their value for many years to come. When users want to change the controller mode of work, there is a three position key-switch on the front panel of the 1785-L20C15. Every position match up to one mode of the processor. For instance, the RUN mode is used to run a controller program, and the outputs are enabled. The I/O can be forced in RUN mode; data table values can as well be edited. Programs can also be saved. While the controller is in the RUN mode, users cannot create or delete the data file, program files, edit online, or make changes in the modes of operation through the programming software.
