The 1785-L40C15 is a PLC 5/40C programmable controller manufactured by Allen-Bradley. This device allows the transfer of data among Allen-Bradley products and other certified third-party products for ease of use. The 1785-L40C15 has a maximum user memory of 48,000 words, and maximum total I/O of 2048. The 1785-L40C15 is capable of working with various communication ports which makes the device flexible in usage with control net (Dual media) and 2 Data Highway Plus (DH+) or Remote I/O Adapter or Scanner. The PLC 5/ 40C brings together existing and future systems under one umbrella through which entire system can be controlled quite easily with high efficiency and cost-effectiveness. This controller is also capable of connecting to a wide range of applications with its embedded popular system networks.
During the installation of the 1785-L40C15, the users must be careful about laying out the system and find out the network configurations and place each component in each designated location. Users can even choose which components will have separate controllers and which components will be controlled under the whole integrated system. One recommendation provided by the manufacturers is to place each I/O controller at a sufficient distance from each controller which not only facilitates the accommodation of future controllers but also significantly maximizes performance. For shared I/O modules, users must be vigilant about placing the I/O where each controller can access it, otherwise, the machine's functionality would be hampered. In case any difficulty is faced with I/O module, a ControlNet Hot Backup module can be used to save the data.
