The 1785-L80E PLC-5 Ethernet programmable controller is an Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation product that is used for various industrial applications. The 1785-L80E controller has one Ethernet channel and two DH+/remote I/O channels. Also, this PLC-5 controller has a 100k words of memory and a maximum total I/O of 3072 in any mix. The total maximum number of I/O chassis is 65 with 64 for the remote. Other specifications include a maximum power dissipation of 19 Watts and a backplane current load of 3.6 Amps. The 1785-L80E PLC-5 controller operates in a temperature range of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius (32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit) and when it is not in operation, it can withstand more drastic temperatures from between -40 and 85 degrees Celsius (-40 and 185 degrees Fahrenheit). The controller has an open type of enclosure and it is not rated for any additional protection. However, the 1785-L80E controller is resistant to a vibration of 2 g at 10 to 500 Hertz and to a shock of up to 30 g when operating. The controller consumes a maximum power of 3.6 Amps at 5 Volts DC and it has a maximum power dissipation of 18.9 Watts.

The 1785-L80E PLC-5 Ethernet programmable controller is a lightweight solution for industrial applications. It weighs only 1.39 kilograms or 3 pounds. When used in an ambient temperature of up to 60 degrees Celsius, the 1770-XYC battery that it and other Ethernet PLC-5 programmable controllers use has a battery life of between 5 and 84 full days, depending on the type and duration of the device’s usage. If the controller is used at maximum of 25 degrees Celsius, then the battery will last much longer, specifically it will last for up to 1.2 years when used at 50% power. The battery will not last more than 30 days at the ideal ambient temperature when the LED lights are working, and that refers to situations where the controller is not connected to the main source, and is using the battery as its only power source.
