The Allen-Bradley 1746-IG16 is a TTL input module with 16 inputs. It has 16 LED indicators on the front panel to indicate the status of each input point. The wiring of the 1746-IG16 input module can be done by using a bulletin 1492 interface module plus pre-wired cables. The 1746-IG16 falls under the Allen-Bradley SLC-500 series of input controllers,


The 1746-IG16’s working voltage category is 5V DC TTL sourcing signal input and it has 16 points per common. The module also has a 4.5-5.5V DC (sourcing) operating voltage. A maximum peak-to-peak ripple of 50mV. The 1746-IG16 draws a 0.14A backplane current at 5V and a 0A current at 24V. Its maximum signal delay is 0.25ms and 0.5ms for ON and OFF, respectively. The 1746-IG16’s maximum off-state voltage is 2V DC, its maximum off-state current is 4.1mA, and its nominal input current is 3.7mA at 5V DC.


To avoid any damage to the 1746-IG16 TTL module, always handle it by its ends and not by its metallic surfaces. Since electrostatic charges can damage the 1746-IG16 module, exposure of terminals to electronic charges should be avoided. When wiring the 1746-IG16, the cable length should be limited to 15 meters per point in standard environments. To avoid electrical noise within the chassis enclosure, care should be taken when routing the cables.
