The 1746-NT8 by Allen Bradley is a Thermocouple/mV analog input module that falls into the SLC 500 product line. Its chassis is installed with eight (8) modules, which store thermocouple/mC analog data that has been converted to digital data for retrieval, by an SLC 500 type processor. It has a backplane current rating of 70 mA at 24 Volts DC and 120 mA at 5 Volts DC with a total backplane power of 1746-NT8 is 2.28 Watts. In addition, this module contains a total of eight (8) isolated input channels.


The signal conversion method for the 1746-NT8 SLC 500 analogue input module is Delta-sigma; this unit contains a digital low pass filter with program filter frequencies. It also contains 9 green LED lights to indicate to the user a change in the channel or module status. It uses the 1746-RT34 Removable Block Terminal (RBT) for analog device inputs. There are two cold-junction compensation sensors that have an accuracy of positive or negative 1.72 degrees Celsius.


The normal rejection frequency for the 1746-NT8 module when between the inputs is more than 100 dB at 50 to 60 Hertz, as is its common frequency rejection mode between ground and inputs. The 1746-NT8 SLC 500 calibrates automatically every two minutes after power up.


This unit operates best at a temperature higher than 0 degrees Celsius and lower than 60; its environmental humidity should be between 5 and 95% to avoid condensation.


The 1746-NT8 has a resolution of 16 bits with a 400-millisecond step response at maximum, and a 356-millisecond to 4.05-second minimum/maximum update time.

The 1746-NT8 analog input module from Allen-Bradley is a thermocouple and millivolt analog input module. This module has been manufactured as part of the SLC 500 series. The hardware for the 1746-NT8 thermocouple and millivolt analog input module includes self-locking tabs, a removable terminal block, LEDs, slots for tying cables, a door label, and a side label or nameplate. The self-locking tabs make it easy to secure the 1746-NT8 thermocouple and millivolt analog input module into its chassis slot. The removable terminal block or RTB provides all of the electrical connections to the input devices in the system.
