The Allen-Bradley 1746-OV8 is DC output module which is part of the SLC 500 output module series. Its backplane current is 135mA at 5V and it is 0A at 24V. When supplied with an external power supply, the 1746-OV8 draws a current of 0.8A at 24V and of 0A at 5V. It is a current sinking module with 8 I/O points and 8 points per common. The 1746-OV8 operates in a voltage category of 24V DC within a 10-50V DC voltage range. At 1A, the 1746-OV8’s maximum on-state voltage drop is 1.2V. In addition, it has an off-state leakage current (output) of 1mA. Its on-signal delay is 0.1ms maximum


The 1746-OV8 output module’s continuous current is 1A per point at a temperature of 30 degrees Celsius and the current is 0.5A at 60 degrees Celsius. Note that a resistor can be mounted in parallel to the load to scale down the effects of a leakage current. The 1746-OV8s heat dissipation rating is 0.775W per point, with a minimum of 0.675W and a maximum of 6.9W. A Hand-Held terminal or Windows programming software (compatible) must be used when reconfiguring the module. The 1746-OV8 has an operating temperature of between 0 and 60 degrees Celsius.


To monitor its functioning and to ensure faults are detected early, the 1746-OV8 has LED indicators on its front panel. It accommodates cables up to #14 AWG. The 1746-OV8 is ideal for use with high-density low current DC outputs in dry and clean industrial environments. The 1492 interface module and pre-wired cables are suitable options when wiring the 1746-OV8.
