The 1746-P1 from Allen-Bradley is a power supply device in the SLC 500 system. Separate power supplies for SLC 500 systems require attachment on the left side of the 1746 I/O chassis. The 1746-P4 supplies power for your system at each I/O slot and for the processor. A beneficial feature for the 1746-P1 power supply unit is a functional LED light which indicates if your system is properly receiving power. Additionally, the power supply has a CPU hold-up time of 20 ms for a full load or 3000 ms for no load. This helps to prevent corruption of your system in case of brief power losses.


The 24V dc user power voltage range is from 18-30V dc. The maximum user-supplied overcurrent protection is 15A. Isolation for the 1746-P1 measures 1800V ac RMS for 1 second. The line voltage for the power supply unit is 85-132V/170-265V ac at 47-63 Hz and the typical line power requirement is 135VA. Maximum inrush current for the 1746-P1 is 20 A. The backplane output current is 2A at 5V dc and 0.46A at 24V dc.

The 1746-P1 has a maximum of two 14 AWG wires per terminal.  A power fuse supply is included to help prevent fire hazard due to short-circuit conditions. Recommended operating temperatures for the 1746-P1 range from 0-60 degrees Celsius (32-140 degrees Fahrenheit). The unit should be stored in temperatures ranging from -40-85 degrees Celsius (-40-185 degrees Fahrenheit). The 1746-P1 is efficiently designed for supplying power to your system with dimensions of 140 x 58 x 145 mm (5.5 x 2.3 x 5.7 in) and a weight of 0.9 kg (2.0 lb).
