The Allen-Bradley 1746-P3 is a power supply that dissipates 24V DC. It accommodates a voltage range (input) of between 19.2V and 28.8 V AC. The 1746-P3 has a current capacity of 3.6 amperes at 5V DC and 0.87 amperes at 24V DC. The power supply has a maximum inrush current of 20 amperes, and a minimum operating temperature rating of 0 degrees Celsius and a maximum one of 60 degrees Celsius. The 1746-P3 power supply must be operated in environments that have a relative humidity of 5-95% without condensation.


When wiring the 1746-P3 power supply, use two 14AWG wires per terminal. The 1746-P3 measures 5.5 x 2.9 x 5.7 inches and it weighs 2.5lb. The 1746-P3 power supply module has a 5% current capacity deration when operated at temperatures above 55 degrees Celsius. The output loading of the 1746-P3 changes when the power dissipation changes. The power supply is fused to protect against hazards that may occur due to short circuits. Transient faults are not accommodated by the fuse on the 1746-P3 power supply. The 1746-P3 is recommended to be used in industrial environments with a level two pollution rating.


When handling the 1746-P3, be extra careful not to cause an electric arc. The arc results when you operate loads (discharge, insert, connect or disconnect the power supply) without first switching off the 1746-P3 power supply. An electric arc is likely to cause detrimental conditions like explosions, which can injure personnel and damage other devices and modules. The 1746-P3 is used together with a replaceable terminal block which makes replacing loads or the 1746-P3 power supply easier.
