The 1747-L514 by Allen Bradley is an SLC 500 modular processor that can hold up to a maximum of 4000 instructions in user memory. It has 960 input/output points maximum and 480 analog input/output points. At 5 Volts DC, the 1747-L514 processors require up to .09 Amps. It offers compatibility with the 1747-M1 and M2 memory modules and the M5 adapter socket. The local input/output chassis has a maximum of 30 slots, with a maximum of 3 chassis installable. The 1747-L514 comes equipped with a robust ladder logic programming instruction (RSLogix 500), which is capable of processing up to 52 programming instructions. It has a battery backup for the standard RAM with an expected lifespan of 2 years. An EEPROM backup is also available, but this is optional. The backplane current load at 5 Volts DC is 350 milliamps and 105 milliamps at 24 Volts DC.
For communication purposes, the 1747-L514 is compatible with a DH-485 device as a receiver (slave) in the programming channel. It has a program scan time of 8 milliseconds and an input/output scan time of 2.6 milliseconds. It has a 3940 discrete input/output capacity and is c-Tick marked, UL listed to Canadian and US safety standards, and CE compliant, in addition to meeting the NEMA Standard ICS 2-230. Ensure that the chassis is powered off before installing or removing this processor; failure to do so may result in a possible personal injury and damage to equipment; the user may, however, replace the processor’s battery when the processor is on. If the processor is powered off when the BATTERY LOW status indicator comes on, the program being operated on will be lost.
