The Allen-Bradley 1747-L524 is an SLC 5/02 processor with a maximum user memory of 4K. As an SLC 5/02 processor, the 1747-L524 offers 4096 inputs and 4096 outputs. The processor has 480 Analog I/O. Users have the option to make use of over 60 module types in the SLC 500 series with this processor including, but not limited to, scanners, communication, digital and analog modules. The 1747-L524 processor has the capabilities to use EEPROM as backup memory. The contents of the processor’s RAM can be saved there, and the data therein can also be loaded to the RAM. The RAM in the processor is also battery-backed as standard procedure.

The processor has a backplane current load of 105mA at 24V DC and 350mA at 5V DC. Program scan hold-up time ranges from 20ms to 3s after power loss, dependent on the power supply loading. The 1747-L524 has a 4.8ms program scan time and a 1.6ms I/O scan time. The local chassis has 30 I/O module slots and three I/O chassis.

The 1747-L524 has several noticeable benefits as a processor. The SLC 5/04 processor is powerful and addresses a wide range of applications with its extensive capabilities. It has an advanced instruction set that has high-level math capabilities, makes use of indirect addressing, and has a compute instruction.  Additionally, the 1747-L524 is industrially designed and can sustain extremes in temperature, electrical noise and heavy vibration that is typical of industrial environments.  The dimensions of the 1747-L524 are approximately 145 x 142 x 35mm.  It can operate at temperatures from 0-60 degrees Celsius (32-140 degrees Fahrenheit) and can be stored at temperatures from -40-85 degrees Celsius (-140-185 degrees Fahrenheit).

The 1747-L524 module is an SLC 500 processor unit manufactured by Allen-Bradley. The processor unit has 4K of memory installed and it can operate at high speed. The processor is fully compatible with different analog scanner modules, and other Allen-Bradley I/O modules. It comes with a total of 4096 inputs and outputs. It supports a maximum of 480 local analog I/O. The processor can scan 1000 keywords in 4.8 milliseconds. The normal I/O scan time is 1.6 milliseconds. A battery-backed RAM is included that has a lifespan of 5 years. A “Battery Low” status indicator is present in the processor module to indicate low battery power. Additionally, there are LED indicators for status updates about the processor unit. The EEPROM is high-speed memory and it supports different programming methods.

The Allen-Bradley SLC 500 1747-L524 processor unit has a current rating of 90 milliamps at 5 Volts DC, and a current rating of  0 milliamps at 24 Volts DC. The program scan hold up time is 20 milliseconds. The 1747-L524 processor unit can be configured easily by using the RSLogix 5000 software connected to a personal computer. An additional 1747-PIC processor is needed for this connection, however. The processor unit supports different communication options, including the RS 232 and DH 485 protocols. The backplane current rating of the module is 350 milliamps at 5 Volts DC. The 1747-L524 processor unit uses a replaceable lithium ion battery with a lifespan of 2 years. This processor unit has an open enclosure and it should be installed within a cabinet or panel space for protection. The maximum ambient temperature should not exceed 60 degrees Celsius.

The 1747-L524 module is an Allen-Bradley SLC 5/02 processor unit. It is equipped with a lithium ion battery.
