The Allen-Bradley 1747-L553P is a Central Processing Unit (CPU) from the SLC 500 5/05 series with a user memory of 64K. The CPU has capabilities to configure up to 4096 inputs and 4096 outputs.  There are 30 I/O module slots in the local I/O chassis. With the 1747-L553P, you can install a 1747-SN Remote I/O Scanner module for configuration of I/O on a Universal Remote I/O link. You could also add a 1747-SDN DeviceNet Scanner module for configuring I/O on a DeviceNet network. The 1747-L553P allows for configuration of 32 I/O chassis per Universal Remote I/O scanner using complementary I/O. If not using complementary I/O, the CPU allows for configuration of 16 I/O chassis per Universal Remote I/O scanner. Using a DeviceNet scanner allows you to address up to 63 DeviceNet devices in the network.

The 1747-L553P includes all of the features of the SLC 5/03 processors with a faster communication port and shorter execution times. The bit-instruction execution times measure at 0.37 ms. The 1747-L553P also features a 10 BASE-T 10M-bit/s Ethernet port. Program scan time for the CPU is typically 0.9 ms. The I/O scan time is typically 0.225 ms. The CPU has a standard battery-backed RAM and Flash backup memory.  Programming devices for the unit use the RSLogix 500 software. The backplane current load for the 1747-L553P at 5V dc is 1.0A and at 24V dc is 0 mA. Operating temperatures for the 1747-L553P should be between 0-60 degrees Celsius (32-140 degrees Fahrenheit). Storage temperatures should be between -40-85 degrees Celsius (-40-185 degrees Fahrenheit).
