The Digital Inputs are input modules manufactured by GE Fanuc are active I/O modules that can come with 2, 4, 8, or 16 channels. The Digital Inputs are meant to be connected to the Fieldbus network adapter in a programmable logic controller system because they and the digital outputs in the system will communicate all of their data through the network adapter. Although the network adapter is made to be Fieldbus specific, the Digital Inputs are not because they are made to be independent of the Fieldbus and usable with most GE Fanuc PLC fieldbus devices. Depending on the amount of data that is being transferred by the Fieldbus, up to 64 active I/O modules like the Digital Inputs can be connected to a GE Fanuc RSTi-IP station at a time.
The dimensions of the GE Fanuc Fieldbus Digital Inputs are 120 x 11.5 x 76 millimeters or 4.72 x 0.45 x 2.99 inches. It is easy to install the Digital Inputs securely because they are designed to click easily into place on a DIN Rail and to click easily into each other side by side in what is known as “double click installation.” The Digital Inputs come with different current path ports for the system current path, the input current path, and the output current path. These input modules use spring-style single-wired or fine-wired types of connections. The environmental protection class of the Digital Inputs is IP 20, their operating temperature range is from -20 to 60 degrees Celsius or -4 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit, and their storage temperature range is from -40 to 85 degrees Celsius or -40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit.
